Repairing Torn Canvas Or Tent Items

How difficult is it to repair torn canvas or tent items yourself? Here are some ways you can do tent or awning repairs yourself.

After cleaning the damaged area to repair a small tear in your tent you should cover the damaged area with cloth repair tape or ripstop nylon for nylon tents, or taffeta for canvas tents. You will want to apply a patch to both sides of the tear and carefully smooth the edges, so the patch does not snag or leak. Then you will want to coat the edges of the patch with seam sealer on both sides. Allow the proper drying time.
If you need to repair a canvas awning you should apply vinyl repair glue to the outer perimeter of the patch. The patch should go on the inside of the canvas. Press firmly with one hand on each side. The glue will need the appropriate time to dry.

You can repair a tear in your pool cover but first make sure the area around the tear is clean. When cutting a patch be sure you cut it a couple inches or larger than the tear, round the edges of the patch with your scissors, remove the adhesive backing on the patch and apply a patch to both sides of the cover. Pool safety covers can be repaired by using mesh or solid safety cover material. Apply glue to the patch on both sides and press together with something heavy until it dries.

We suggest you call an expert to do these repairs to ensure a quality repair. The Tent Shop are experts at doing quality long lasting repairs to your tents, awnings, boat tops, canopies, heavy canvas items or pool covers.

Why You Need A Tent For Your Next Event

Tents are a great idea for outdoor events such as weddings, birthday parties, family reunions, and baby showers. A tent, whether that be a pole tent or a frame tent, adds an additional decorative element to your special get-together. Instantly make any setting feel more organized and elegant with a tent. They help to define the entertaining space, and you can even add additional decorations such as streamers and balloons to the tent. The tent is your blank canvas ready to be customized to fit the occasion. Tents will provide shade on hot days, and tents will protect guests, food, and decor if it should rain. When you are planning an event or party, flexibility is key to making sure that everything runs smoothly. With tents, you can choose from different styles and sizes based on your specific needs. By using a tent, it also gives you flexibility in where you can host. Speaking of where you can host, you won't feel rushed like you may have felt if you had rented a venue or hall instead. Once you have rented a tent for your event, the reasons for doing so will be clear!

Pole vs. Frame - Which Tent Should I choose? (Continued)

Many people prefer not to use a pole tent for their outdoor event because the pole(s) can be considered an eye-soar. Because you have one or more poles supporting the tent, a little bit of the entertaining space is compromised for the poles. Having poles can also limit where the tent can be placed. While these are not major drawbacks, you may also want to consider a frame tent. A frame tent requires no poles to be fastened into the ground. Because of this, frame tents are often set up on patios, decks, driveways, and on other various types of terrain. Rather than poles, interlocking bars provide support as they create a barrier-free, freestanding structure for you and your guests. Pole vs. Frame - Which Tent Should I choose?

The two different types of commonly used tents for outdoor events and gatherings are pole tents and frame tents. Pole tents, just as they sound, are tents which are stabilized by securing poles into the ground. Because of this, they are ideal for areas with grass but not for areas with hard surfaces such as concrete. For a tent to be considered a pole tent, there must be at least one pole holding up the tent. For tents with just one single pole, the pole will be located in the center of the tent. This offers balance and stability as well as an opportunity for additional decoration to be hung. It also gives the tent a more traditional tent shape with a tall peak in the center. While some prefer this option, others do not. If the pole is a concern for you and your guests because it may be seen as an eyesore, frame tents are also an option. If a pole tent does sound like a good option for your next event, there are different options to choose from to best meet your needs. To browse these options, please click here.

Take The Party Outside

We live in a beautiful state. Those warm weather months come and go quickly though, wouldn't you agree? With spring finally here and summer right around the corner, I suggest taking your parties outside. Who doesn't love a good outdoor get-together with family and friends, after all? Sunshine. Fresh air. Cool breeze. Scenic views. Laid-back feel. Spacious environment. Planning an outdoor party or event provides you with a beautiful blank canvas. You are free from space and layout restrictions that come with planning something indoors. You can make it as formal or informal as you would like. It is also the perfect opportunity to throw some food on the grill. Grilling can be easy and inexpensive compared to some of the other food alternatives. You and your guests will have a good time as you enjoy the season while it is here and all that it has to offer. So, what do you think? Kick back and enjoy the sounds of nature, have a hamburger, and grab one of those drinks with the little umbrellas in the cup.🍹🌞
